Grab Your Tickets To The White House Now

You can now visit the White House. Acquiring the tickets to the prestigious building is tough but not impossible. Tours are scheduled on first-come-first-serve basis and can be booked six months in advance. However, tickets must be booked at least a month in advance. All tours to the White House are free of charge but every visitor must carry a ticket. A hand stamp validation is also required. Also, you must make a request as early as possible because only a limited number of tours are available, and millions of tourists visit the building every year.

If you are a foreign national, you can just get in touch with your country's embassy in Washington, DC and submit a tour request. If you or your companions need a wheelchair, you can contact the Visitors Entrance on arrival and request for the same. There are also special tours available for the visually challenged and hearing-impaired. Children must be accompanied by adults during the entire time of the visit.

To book your tickets in advance, plan the dates you plan to visit the White House. Do keep a record of your birth date and social security number as well as of those planning to accompany you to the White House during the booking process. Then, you should contact your Member of Congress and request tickets and provide them with a couple of dates. Follow up with the Member of Congress's office to determine the status of your ticket.

The entire tour takes about 20 minutes. Apart from visiting the White House, a visit to the nearby White House Visitor Center is a must for its amazing exhibits. The center houses exhibits of the White House, including beautiful architecture, furnishings, first families, social events, and relations with the press and world leaders, and also a 30-minute video. You may also want to book tickets to visit the Capitol Building, for which, too, your Congressmen need to be contacted.

However, always remember that there is no tour on federal holidays, Sundays, Mondays, and during any White House special events. Any tour can be cancelled without a notification. Remember, that the touring group must comprise at least 10 people. However, Congressmen can get you adjusted with other people who are touring on the same day. Also, there is no food service available. Visitors are not allowed to carry handbags, book bags, backpacks, purses, food and beverages, strollers, cameras, or video recorders inside the building. Smoking is also prohibited. However, car keys, cell phones, and wallets are permitted inside.
